What does it really mean to acknowledge God in all my ways?

  1. Proverbs 3: 6-86 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.

In previous posts we have been talking about change in our life. These verses in Proverbs chapter 3 are packed with instruction on how we can attain the positive changes we desire. Verse 6 is one of the most popular among Christians, and quoted so often and in so many contexts that I feel a deeper look is needed. It speaks of a higher power guiding and protecting us, giving us needed feelings of security in today's world. However, it is not simply referring to God as being a good consultant, or genie in a bottle. Although God wants be our protector and guide, we need to realize that His guidance and protection are simply a by-product of our seeking him and following His ways. Along with asking Him for protection, guidance, and blessings are you willing to ask Him to give you strength to follow Him in every decision you make? Do you pray that He would be glorified in you today even if it means you suffering in yourself to get there? How about asking Him that you would be less and less and He would be more and more in your life? If you are really seeking Him and following Him, your paths will be pretty straight. Let's explore this some more tomorrow. Today think about what you are doing and what you need to be more intentional about in order to seek and acknowledge the Lord in your ways...
