PEOPLE HAVE MOVED AWAY FROM ABSOLUTE TRUTH... Absolute truth is
Something that is true at all times and in all places. In geometry there cannot ever be a round square or a square circle or a triangle whose angles do not add up to 180 degrees. If you step off the roof of a ten-story building with nothing to stop your fall, you will die. These facts are true regardless of how a person thinks or feels about them. They have nothing to do with social norms of opinions or points of view.
Relative truth stems from the belief that truth changes based on an individual's understanding of it. Therefore, there are no absolutes and what may be true for you is simply not true for me. Your truth and my truth is a contradiction of terms and a rejection of absolute truth. The purpose of relative truth is to allow a person to create their own reality so they can be free to do whatever they want and feel justified in doing so.
However, if truth is factual and indisputable, you cannot have different truths for different people. When a person says “well, I think...” it is a sign that they have moved away from absolute truth. This is relative truth, and it is always moving, based on whatever society feels is truthful at that particular time. There is no relative truth...there is only truth. But society believes there is relative truth. That is the beginning of the slide to the abyss...because every time you take away the absolute truth and begin using relative truth, you begin to use your thoughts and not God's. So, when you worship God after you have accepted relative truth as truth, you are not worshiping Him according to His Truth. This is exactly what happened in the Bible when there was no King in Israel, and they did not follow the ways of God on their own but instead, “... every man did what was right in their own eyes Judges 21:25.” This was one of the most pitiful times in Israel's history.
John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man comes to the Father but by me.” You can only worship Him according to His truth. Once you come away from that and say, “Well, I think....” you have moved away from Him and His Absolute truth. The proof is in the Word of God and if you choose to believe differently by looking at truth in any other way, that is between you and God. We all will be accountable for the way we choose.
In searching for answers to any problem in your life remember Jeremiah17:9, which states that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, then search for scripture that will actually help you make a decision - because if you make your decision based on relative truth instead of absolute truth, the result can only bring about more problems.
Scripture gives us plenty of examples of the consequences. One example is the decision of Sara and Abraham who reasoned that they should have Abraham take Sara's handmaiden and God will give them the promised child through her when the Lord distinctly said Sara would be with child. That was not the way God had planned for it to be done, and the world has lived with the curses of the two seeds, which came about from that disobedience, ever since, causing civil discord in the world which we won't get rid of until Christ returns. When David sinned against God, he had to live in his own house for the rest of his life and God said he would not have peace again. Some curses are not removed, the penalty is that the sin is forgiven, but the action of what you did will remain, and there is a price. You will pay that penalty for the rest of your life. So, is it worth relative truth?
